Performers

Italian pianist Daniele Gorgone will be bringing his trio over from Pisa to perform at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Battersea. An energetic and brilliant pianist, he is among the jazz musicians who care most about the sense of tradition and American jazz culture in Italy.

Given the predominantly swing, blues and gospel language that characterizes his pianism, he has had the opportunity to record and perform with various international jazz stars such as Jason Marsalis, Garrison Fewell , Joe Lee Wilson, Bucky Pizzarelli, Andy Gravish, Rachel Gould, Jesse Davis, Joahnnes Faber, Scott Hamilton, John Davis, Tino Tracanna, Grant Stewart, Peter King, Tom Kirkpatrick, Joe Cohn, Jim Rotondi, Stjepko Gut, Deborah Carter, and countless others. He has appeared at venues and festivals in countries including France, Switzerland, USA, Ireland, England, Poland, Russia, Germany, Slovenia, Spain, France, Lichtenstein, Turkey, Morocco, and Ukraine.

Daniele's trio is rooted in the most pure tradition, but at the same time it exists and lives in the present, keeping an eye on everything that happens artistically in the present day. The trio reflects the shared experiences, personalities and the interplay of the three musicians. Repertoire consists of original tunes and arrangements of jazz standards.

This year, the Battersea Jazz Festival is raising money for the Lily Foundation. The Lily Foundation is the UK's leading charity dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease. We’re working towards a world in which every mitochondrial disease patient has a voice and access to treatment, support to improve their life and, ultimately, a cure. 10 million people in the UK suffer from diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction is believed to be involved, and every other day in the UK a baby is born that will develop mitochondrial disease. The Lily Foundation is fighting to change this. £1 of every ticket you purchase will be donated directly to the Foundation’s work.
