
Tom Smith

Tom Smith is a saxophonist, bass clarinettist and composer from London. He was twice finalist of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year programme in 2014 and 2016, and in 2018 won the Peter Whittingham Development Award from Help Musicians UK.
Tom has regularly arranged music for the celebrated Leo Green Orchestra (Van Morrison). His arrangements have been broadcast on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night show, featuring singers including Grammy Award winner Peabo Bryson and Imelda May at the London Palladium. Tom has also written arrangements for Beverley Knight’s BK25 live orchestral album, performed at the Royal Festival Hall. Tom’s big band compositions and arrangements have been performed by Ian Shaw and Julian Clary with the London Gay Big Band, NYJO, and the Patchwork Jazz Orchestra. Tom also performs regularly as a sideman around England, with artists including Gareth Lockrane, Ian Shaw, Calum Gourlay and Jonny Mansfield.
